In a previous newsletter, we spoke about Chewekah, also known as “Chewy.” He lives completely off grid, up on the side of a mountain, with not even a vehicle. He rides a 3 wheeled bike. He came to church once and drifted away. His dad was against church and his brother had nothing good to say. They live near him, but the relationships are strained, to say the least.
We had been praying for him and asking you to pray fr him as well. We always stop and talk with him when we see him around. At the beginning of the month, I received a call from one of the stores telling me they were really worried about him, and he was appearing really distressed. Asked if I could help. I began looking for him. A few hours had gone by and his dad, who had never spoken to me, called me and asked if there was anything I could do to help his son. I told him I would do anything I could.
The next morning, I filled a thermos of coffee and drove up to his gate. Honked the horn and he came out walking fast. I told him I heard he was having a rough time, he got to the gate, tears in his eyes and said I think you are the only one who can. I said I know a guy! We talked for about 1 ½ hours and I listened to him. He looked stressed, hungry and worn out. I told him that the next day was Sunday, so please come to church. I believe it would make a difference. He showed up. He was greeted by everyone. People would just make their way over and sit and talk. One couple came in and saw him sitting by himself, they sat in the chairs right beside him and made him feel welcome. That man left with a smile on his face.
Before he left the ladies made sure, he had food to take home as this was our potluck. He needed help with his fireplace, and we went up and helped him take care of that. He told me that his own dad and brother never helped him. We just gave him a hug and showed him Jesus!
It has been 4 weeks and Chewy has not missed church. God is So Good! Please pray for Chewy! We pray for his salvation and that he will continue to come and meet Jesus!
